The Link45 has an advanced 1-Wire front end based on extensive research with a variety of iButton and 1-Wire chip devices and network topologies. This presents controlled impedance to the bus, performs intelligent bus pre-charge, and has improved waveform timing.
Slew controlled drivers reduce EMI and ringing, while analog and digital filtering reduce noise sensitivity. A crystal-controlled time base eliminates the need for the driving software to be periodically recalibrated. It also assures consistent 1-Wire waveform timing.
There are two connectors on the Link45. The first is a DB9 connector that attaches to the serial port of the host connection. The second is a female RJ-45 connector that provides output to the 1-Wire bus. The RJ-45 connector is fully compatible with RJ-11 and RJ-12 connectors, as only the two center conductors are used.
The Link45 has additional features not found in the
DS9097U. When used with any terminal program, the Link45 can serve as a network sniffer and diagnostic tool. For more information on this function, see
Application Note #244.
